31 Days of Virtue: Day 8

She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. Proverbs 31:12

All the days of her life. That's a long time. Does that remind you of a certain vow you took on that special day?

I, Jamie, take you, Ragan,
to be my lawfully wedded husband,
to have and to hold from this day forward,
for better or for worse,
for richer, for poorer,
in sickness and in health,
to love and to cherish,
from this day forward
until death do us part.

A promise to have and to hold, to love and to cherish during better times and worse times, when we are rich and when we are poor, when we are sick and when we are in good health. A promise made to last until death do us part; all the days of our lives.

It's easy to bring our husbands good when everything else around us is going good. What we have to remember is that the woman of Proverbs 31 brings her husband good all the days of her life, and we promised to do the same thing.

We can't let ourselves get caught up in the little annoyances of everyday life. We have to remember to look at the big picture. We are going to be with this man for the rest of our lives. Why would you want it to be filled with bad attitudes, fighting, nagging, bitterness, disrespect and no love? That is no way to live. Make a choice today to fulfill this promise. We married our husbands for a reason. Remember divorce is not in our vocabulary. Let's go back to that reason and bring our husbands good, not harm.
