31 Days of Virtue: Day 24

... to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God. Titus 2:5

In other versions of this verse, self-controlled is sometimes read as live wisely, to be sensible, to be discreet, to be chaste, to use good judgement, to be sober-minded. However, all of these revolve around the idea of living right, of having your actions, words, and thoughts under control.

Over-reacting and flying off the wall in rage is not having your actions under control. Gossiping about someone in the beauty shop is not having your words under control. Thinking of ugly things to do or say to a person is not having your thoughts under control. Remember a virtuous woman is someone of moral excellence, goodness, and righteousness. This is what we should be working towards; not the other direction.

31 Days of Virtue: Day 1

  I love being a wife! I love everything about it! I like the cleaning, the cooking, the washing clothes and dishes, and I love my husband! Yes, we do have rough times like any other marriage, but we always get through them. Because one of my desires is to be the wife God wants me to be, I have decided to study more deeply what that means - to be the wife God wants me to be. And what that means, I believe, is to be the woman God wants me to be - to be a woman like the woman of Proverbs 31.

  The woman of Proverbs 31 is a virtuous woman. According to dictionary.com, the definition of virtue is moral excellence; goodness; righteousness. These characteristics are what I will be studying more about over the next 31 days. These characteristics are what I am striving for in my own life. Here are just a few things I will be writing about for the next month:
- Being a helper (Genesis 2:18)
- Being sensible (Proverbs 19:14)
- Fear the LORD (Proverbs 31:30)
- Be submissive (Ephesians 5:22)
- Be reverent (Titus 2:3)
- Be pure (Titus 2:5)

A Virtuous Woman: 31 Days Project

Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. Proverbs 31:10


Who is a virtuous woman? A virtuous woman is someone who is good, righteous, worthy, faithful, honorable, moral, upright, and honest.


I would like to explore the Word of God for 31 days beginning October 1st and find this virtuous woman. I want to be this virtuous woman, but not for myself. I want to be this virtuous woman to glorify my God. I want to be this virtuous woman as a gift to my husband. I love being a wife. One of my deepest desires is to be the wife God wants me to be for my husband. But how can I know what kind of wife that is, how can I know who a virtuous woman is and what her characteristics comprise of unless I study and search for her?
