Weekend Getaway to Natchez, MS

The Husband and I took a trip over to Natchez, MS a few weekends ago just to get away for a few days.

We walked around the downtown area and looked at all the antique stores, ate at a few local places, went bowling, went shopping, went to a winery, and just relaxed. It was a very nice getaway.

One thing interesting that we did was go to the  Longwood House.

If I'm correct, this is the only octagon shaped house in Mississippi. We were also told by a local shop owner that part of the movie series Twilight was filmed here.

What's interesting about this house is that only the bottom floor is completely finished. While it was being built, the Civil War began and everyone left the house just as it stood - tools and all.

{one of the women in this family married a Yankee and lived on Park Ave. : ) }

Because of this nice getaway and then Mother's Day weekend, my weekend house projects have been put on hold for a while except for one very important project: our kitchen floor.

Yes, it seems that we have gotten a hole in our kitchen floor. So come back to check out our new floor!! I'm so excited! : )

Cross Project

This is my latest project. I made this as a birthday gift for someone. This is one of my favorite projects that I've made so far! What do you think?

I bought two wooden crosses from Hobby Lobby. I spray painted the larger one and the sides of the smaller one. Then I modpodged scrapbook paper onto the smaller one and roughed up the edges a little bit. I used Liquid Nails to glue the smaller cross onto the larger one. Then I modpodged the little crystals onto the wood and the paper. Pretty easy! And it looks beautiful!

Enjoy!

A New Porch!

The Husband has finished his project! He finished it earlier this week. I must admit I'm a little impressed he finished it so quickly... I honestly didn't think he would take the time to finish in just 10 days.... : ) Anyways, it's done and I love it! Now all I need is a pretty flower and a cute chair so I can sit outside - when the weather is nicer and not soooo hot.

Enjoy!!

The Husband's New Project

The Husband has a new project - a new deck! He brought this home one day after we had a storm pass through.

A tree landed on a house in town when a storm went through, and the owners let us have the deck. So The Husband is in the process of tearing down the sides and roof so we can have a porch! Yay! : )

My New Project

Sewing! My new project recently involves sewing! I'm making cute little outfits for cute little girls! Such fun! Here's my first outfit:

This took me a little longer than I thought it would, but hopefully I'll get the hang of it and it won't take me as long next time... And I only made myself bleed twice! : ) I'm pretty proud of myself!

Enjoy!

'NAMES' has launched!

Alright, everyone! NAMES has launched! You can view the project here. I've got 2 months, until November 20, 2011, to raise the funds needed - $1,500. I don't have the video posted yet, but I will soon hopefully. Be sure to check out all the rewards you can get for helping me complete this project! Some of the rewards include: a postcard, a photograph, or even your choice of 14 names that I'll be creating!

This is so exciting! Be sure to tell all your friends and families!! And if you would like to place this badge on your own blog to spread the word and direct people where to donate, I would be sooooo appreciative!! : )

NAMES accepted to Kickstarter!

So my proposal to Kickstarter was accepted! Yay! Now I have to get everything set up and ready to accept donations to start the project! One thing I have to do is create a video!  : |   I've never done anything like that before so be praying for me! Pray that the video goes smoothly and conveys the meaning and purpose of this project. I will definitely let you know when things are set up and ready to accept donations! Until then, you can check out the project here.

Have a good day!
